Steps:

The nursery school teacher meets the children in the explorer’s lab. She shows the children a digital camera. The children talk about previous experiences with this type of camera.

The nursery school teacher takes a picture of each child, maybe the other children can help.

The nursery school teacher explains that the photos can be looked at on the computer and that they can be inserted like Clip Art pictures.

A child boots the computer and explains what he or she is doing.

The nursery school teacher uploads the photos from the camera to the computer and explains how the photos can be looked at. The children look at the pictures with as little help as possible and take turns at clicking.

The photos can also be looked at using the WORD-program. A child opens the WORD program. The nursery school teacher shows the children how the photos are inserted by taking a photo of herself as an example and demonstrating the procedure. She makes her photo smaller and moves it. One by one the children insert their respective photo into their own empty document and type their name under it. They enlargen or change the writing. Since the children want to take their page home they describe the printing process and print their page.

The nursery school teacher shows the children a floppy disc and lets the children talk about their previous experiences.

The nursery school teacher shows how a file can be stored on the disc by using her page as an expample. Then she retrieves the picture from the disc and onto the screen.

One by one the children store their page on the disc with the help of the nursery school teacher.

A child exits the program and shuts the computer down.

The nursery school teacher shows the children the pictures that they have made for the computer manual. The children say what they see on the pictures and decide which ones shall be put into the book so that all important steps are documented and all children can look up what they want to know.

The children glue the pictures on the empty pages of the book and tell the nursery school teacher what she shall write down as additional explanation.
